Pirate Cove Resort…Our First StopApril 27, 2016
We made it out of the driveway without too much damage. The driveway had a pretty large slope and didn’t provide a whole lot of room for making the turn onto the road without clipping the roof of the house. Our RV is only 23’ and the boat is 26’ but of course I needed a small on/off road dirt bike in order to pick up supplies and have a little fun on. This sits on a rack in between the boat trailer and the RV bumper forcing us to add a 3.5’ extension bar in order to create enough space for the boat hitch. This work was done by an awesome welding company in Vista CA called Mel’s Welding. They reinforced the hitch by attaching supporting steel to the frame increasing the towing capacity of the RV and giving us some peace of mind. They also customized our store bought receiver by adding some lock bolts and extra reinforcement where needed. The guys at the shop have a ton of experience towing/hauling all kinds of things making them the perfect choice for this project. We could have added a front bumper hitch and put the bike in the front, but this would have cost more and blocked the headlights hindering night driving.
